Saudi Arabia Holds the Key to Unlocking the Arabian Online Market

Saudi Arabia : 30 March 2010

Saudi Arabia is currently the leader in the Web market for the Arab World. It is estimated that approximately 12% of Arab internet user’s hail from Saudi Arabia and that this is now the key market to reach the Arab business world.

A company known as National Net Ventures (N2V) is Saudi Arabia’s most prominent internet business and their CEO feels that in order to have a substantial Web presence you must seriously look at Saudi Arabia and advertise extensively to attract this key market. He also said it is the place to be seen on the Arab Internet scene.

Many other Web professionals have said that Saudi Arabia was the main reason for the success of the Maktoob Web portal of Jordan which was sold to Yahoo for a reported figure in the region of $165 million in 2009. This figure was secured largely because it contained a number of Saudi chat rooms which were a large part of its customer base and subsequently caught the attention of many advertisers.

Another Jordan company that took off thanks to its Saudi content is D1G, which contains a number of Saudi Arabian websites, this portal attracts 3 million users a month and more than 1.5 million of these are from Saudi Arabia. Fouad Jeryes of D1G says that Saudi Arabians using the site are largely young, have plenty of money to spend and are very excited about the potential for knowledge that the internet can now give them.
