Qatar Not Impacted as Much By Global Crisis Says Qatar Central Bank Governor

Qatar : 13 December 2010

The negative impacts of the recent worldwide economic crisis was felt less in Qatar in comparison to other developing nations, according to the Qatar Central Bank (or QCB) governor H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani.  The Governor also noted that Qatar’s GDP is expected to rise by 16 percent for 2010.

Sheikh Al Thani was speaking at the opening of an Irish-Qatari forum earlier this week.

The Governor noted how important the forum is due to the timing of the formation, which is during the economic recovery.  He also said that the inclusion of the IIFSC (Irish International Financial Services Center) is also a benefit.

Because the worldwide meltdown is still being felt in numerous financial markets across the globe, more crises are not being discounted.  Economies all over the globe are still shadowed by the crisis, making it challenging to count on an end date for the slow period.
