Qatar Airways is well on the way to implementing its expansion strategy with news today that there are plans to increase the order for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner up from two to six planes. The airline is expecting to see the planes delivered by September next year with further increases in capacity planned.
There are currently 82 aircraft in the Qatar Airways fleet but orders have already been put in place for another 200 aircraft, with aims for the fleet to grow to 120 planes by 2013. Expansion plans include opening up flight routes later this year to Argentina, Spain and Brazil.
The airlines growth will coincide with the planned opening of a new Doha International Airport in 2011 which, if everything goes according to plan, will have the capacity for 24 million passengers.Sarah O'Connell, Staff Writer, Gulf Jobs Market
