MUSCAT — The data released by the Ministry of Housing shows that the total number of planned land uses in 2012 stood at 58,609 plots in all governorates of the Sultanate and the distributed plots stood at 38,768, according to the indicators released by the sectors of urban planning, land distribution, real estate register and social housing, which find place in the ministry’s yearbook 2012. The number of real estate transactions stood at 120,081 with financial value amounted to RO 1,716,268, constituting an increase 45 per cent compared with 2011. The financial charges amounted to RO 25,075 and the number of land plots registered for the first time stood at 100,198. The number of deeds issued at 207,204 in various governorates, whereas the number of deeds for GCC nationals stood at 3,376.
In the area of social housing programmes serving the social security families and low-income families, 340 housing units were approved in a number of wilayats. The number of families that benefited from the housing assistance stood at 4,812 at a total cost of RO 105,352,000. This is an increase of 120 per cent recorded in housing aid in 2012 on the number of beneficiary families compared with that of 2011. In the housing loan sector, 1,388 families benefited from the programme, with a total value of RO 26,764,000, with a rise of 363 per cent compared to 2011. Regarding land affairs committees, the statistical data of 2012 showed that the number of meetings held by the committees stood at 404 during which reviewed 17,639 cases and 22,395 cases were inspected.
