Oil Future Secure For The Arab World

Doha, Qatar : 11 May 2010

Arab countries can feel secure that they will play a significant role in the international oil industry for many years to come, due to the size of their oil reserves, according to the man who is responsible for Saudi oil, Minister Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi.

Speaking at the Energy Conference taking place amongst Arab states in Doha this week, Al-Naimi referred to the ‘massive reserves’ of Saudi oil which will continue to be ‘of special significance’ in future years.

The Arab countries are responsible for the production of almost 22 million barrels of oil every single day, with Saudi Arabia contributing almost a third of that total.  The region overall is also home to approximately one third of the globe’s established natural gas resources.
