ABB has announced that a $27 million contract for the supply of power transformers to be installed by Oman Electricity Transmission Company has been awarded to the company. These transformers will be installed at substations across the Sultanate.
Booking for this order took place during the fourth quarter of last year, according to statements by the technology group that leads the power and automation industry.
These transformers will be rated at 125 MVA (megavolts ampere), supplied in 2011 and delivered for installation to a range of substations across the power grid in Oman.
ABB country manager Saeed Fahim noted that the transformers are energy efficient and will create a better flow for the necessary quality power supplies to meet the rising demands of Oman. They will also add strength and reliability to the power grid.
Transformers are a vital component in the grid of electricity and their quality is critical for the overall efficiency and safety of energy conversion over the variety of voltage systems.
ABB is a leading manufacturer of transformers across the globe and offers a full range to meet local standards, IEC and ANSI. Their products include power transformers that are rated for 1,000 kV, as well as liquid-distribution and dry-distribution transformers, the related components and services.
