Emirates Postal Worker Awarded for his Honesty

Middle East : 21 March 2010

A sorter working at Emirates post has received an award for handing over a substantial amount of cash that he found in an unmarked envelope during the course of his work.

His employer and colleagues were delighted to witness that such honesty is still alive and well at the Ramoul Postal Sorting Centre. The cash was said to be valued at $4,500 or DH16,500 according to a news story aired on the state news agency WAM.

The employee known as Ignatius Anthony Antao was this week presented with a certificate of appreciation and a gift at a recent event held in Dubai at Emirates Post Head office.

CEO of Emirates Post Ibrahim Bin Karam expressed his thanks and appreciation to the exemplary employee. He also said he hoped that the honesty of Ignatius Anthony Antao would always encourage other postal employees to be as honest and vigilant in their jobs no matter what rank or position they held within the Emirates Post Office.

The bundle of money was spotted in an unaddressed envelope while some postal employees were busy carrying out the daily job of sorting through bags of mail. Emirates Post Office are delighted that this act of honesty shows the mail service in such a positive light.
