Middle East : 14 March 2010

It has been announced this week that the Abu Dhabi Education Council will once again be rolling out a prestigious scholarship scheme for the coming year. A lucky 180 students will be able to apply for an ‘Elite Scholarship for Advanced Technology,’ from 2010 to 2012.

This year’s memorandum was agreed last Thursday and it hoped that this will encourage and aid more students to embark on a career in the advanced technologies.

It was just this week that Google’s chief executive Eric Schmidt stated that the Middle East was just coming into its own in terms of adopting the latest technology and that he can see this industry reaching new heights in the region over the next few years.

It is undoubtedly an exciting time to be partaking of a course of study that can lead into a field that has a lot of potential growth forecasted for the Middle East over the coming decade.

To obtain one of these scholarships a minimum grade of 85 % for high school graduates is a prerequisite and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for existing university students.

Students will be selected through a selection process of ADEC that will involve written tests and an oral interview. The students will be able to study in any of the following areas, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science or Engineering, Material Science and Physics.
