The Fourth China Sourcing Fair has opened in Dubai and one of its more unusual products is a pen, priced at $33, which quotes verses from the Quran.
The company that developed the pen, Shenzhen Hexie Mei’an Electronic, a technology firm based in China, said that it intended to serve 1.6billion Muslims with a variety of goods. Eric Wang, sales manager for the company added that one of his colleagues was a Pakistani Muslim engineer who helped design products that would ‘benefit Muslims.’
Trade between the Middle East and China has jumped thrice fold since 2005, and was estimated at $107bn for 2009. In the UAE alone China has won $2.1bn worth of deals for construction and expansion in the two way trade is likely to continue.Paul Holdsworth, Staff Writer, Gulf Jobs Market News
