A new steel plant in Salman Industrial City in Hidd is set to create up to 1,800 new jobs in the region. This will make Bahrain the steel industry hub of the Middle East, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, crown Prince and Economic Development Board chairman has just announced.
It is also predicted that this new industry will lead the way for a new period of economic and industrial development in the region. It is very much hoped that this new plant will merely be the first of many new industries in Bahrain and that this will allow the country to diversify away from their current dependence on their existing core industries and will also provide new export markets over the coming years.
Also the new steel plant will create jobs in Bahrain for many local people and that they will all attain new skills that will be very beneficial to their future employment potential and their future earning power.
It has already been confirmed that at least half of the new jobs will go to Bahraini citizens the Minister for Industry and Commerce has just recently announced.
