Abu Dhabi Set to be Green Today

Middle East : 17 March 2010

If you are Irish, partly Irish or just Irish for today then you will know that today is the 17th of March and officially this the day when anybody with a Celtic soul will be nostalgically recounting memories from the Emerald Isle, before donning something freakishly green and hopefully will be rounding off their celebrations by partaking of some form of therapeutic activity to mark this highlight on the Irish social calendar.

The Dubai Irish society are once again hosting their annual St. Patrick’s Day Ball which will take place this Friday the 19th and it will be held at the new Address Hotel at Dubai Marina. The evening will kick off with a five course banquet and will be followed by an evening of music from a band who are jetting in from Ireland especially for the event. There will also be a River Dance type performance by the Irish Abu Dhabi Children’s Dancing Troup.

If you feel you have a true Irish stamina for partying then you could also consider another St. Patrick’s Day ball on March the 18th at Abu Dhabi’s Crowne Plaza hotel where once again you can expect a five course feast followed by dancing entertainment and a truly Irish experience.

Then if you still insist on being an incessant party animal or you just prefer to wait for the weekend to celebrate your greenness then the Captain’s Arms are having a St. Patrick’s weekend on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th. There will be cocktails and special Irish drinks that will have you believing you are most definitely in a typical Irish Shebeen. Other activities will include a Shamrock hunt and some authentic pints of the black stuff.
